Over the last 6 years the NWDA has funded RTC Norths Frameworks NorthWest team to provide practical help and advice to organisations in the North West interested in applying for collaborative research grant funding from the European Commissions Framework Programmes and more recently the Technology Strategy Board competitions in the UK. The project closed in October 2009 having achieved the targets set, supporting over 175 project submissions, leading to over £14.8 million of direct grant funding to the Region.
Help on FP7 continues to be available through Europe Enterprise Network North West and FP7 National Contact Points. Support for TSB funding is available through the Knowledge Transfer Networks.

What is Frameworks 7

The Framework Programme is the main pathway for the European Union to help fund collaborative research and development projects. FP7 will run for 7 years from January 2007. The funding programme is designed to support organisations in Europe undertake research. The budget for FP7 is over €50 billion devoted to individuals and organisations to undertake RTD. The programme runs in parallel with smaller targeted initiatives: The Competitiveness and Innovation Programme and EURATOM.

Commission unveils plans for cooperation between national research programmes
