What is FP7?

The Framework Programme is the main pathway for the European Union to help fund collaborative research and development projects. FP7 will run for 7 years from January 2007. The funding programme is designed to support organisations in Europe undertake research. The budget for FP7 is over €50 billion devoted to individuals and organisations to undertake RTD. The programme runs in parallel with smaller targeted initiatives: The Competitiveness and Innovation Programme and EURATOM.

Call for Applications: CASE Awards

In collaboration with the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC), the NWDA now invites applications for one of 2 EPSRC PhD Industrial CASE studentships. These awards enable companies to take the lead in defining and setting up research projects with a Research Organisation of their choice. Projects must be in engineering or physical sciences and jointly supervised by the academic and industrial partners. The deadline for applications is June 30th 2008.

Northwest Research Conference

The Regional Intelligence Unit is holding the Northwest Research Conference to be held on Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd April 2008 at the Manchester Conference Centre. The purpose of the event is to communicate the findings of recent projects funded by the NWDA Research Team and to provide guidance on regional and local data produced by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
